What are environmental charges?

Modified on Mon, 20 May 2024 at 02:30 PM

Environmental charges reflect costs incurred by energy retailers to meet their legislative obligations under the Renewable Energy Target. These costs are subsequently passed through to all energy customers as a direct charge, either as a fixed percentage or based on the percentages published on the clean energy regulators website. For smaller energy accounts, such as SMEs and residential (RESI) accounts, these charges may have been bundled in, potentially escaping direct notice.
As part of our tendering process, we will compare all charges you will expect to see on your energy bill so we can determine the cheapest offer overall.
